“Helvar provided a competitive price and because of their strong representation in Ankara the Client and Developer chose them. The project went very well with regard to the lighting control, the commissioning and implementation of the system” Mark Breton DPA Lighting Consultants
The design process for the development began in 2008 with an Architect from New York and an English based Interior Design practice.
The design brief was to create a business orientated hotel for the future needs of an expanding and increasingly important city. The lighting, particularly for the exterior of the building, was to reflect this feeling of sophistication in the way that the lighting treatment interacted with the strong architectural features at night.
Completion of the majority of the project was in the summer of 2011 with the opening of a couple of the public areas following on at the end of the year.
Restaurant, Changing Room, Gymnasium, Reception/Lobby, Bar/Club, Conference Room, Hotel Rooms, Spa, Corridor, Toilets
The Hotel is a 22 storey building with commanding views over Ankara and the surrounding countryside. A jazz bar, called Skye Vue, on the top floor takes full advantage of this position.
Guest bedrooms occuply the main body of the hotel with the primary public areas situated on the ground, mezzanine, first and second floor levels. The lobby is an impressive space with an atrium extending through 4 levels and offering views from one side of the hotel to the other.
A nightclub and sports bar is located in the basement with an extensive and opulent spa and gym occuping the remainder of the basement area.
An external terrace and pool are accessed through the spa with the exception of the standard guest bedrooms. All interior areas, accessible to the public, have lighting that functions via Helvar control systems. The exterior lighting is also operated via time clocks and DMX control (for the RGB LED feature lighting) supplied by Helvar.
