Daylight harvesting
Daylight harvesting is the general description given to the exploitation of the natural daylight entering a room or area and the subsequent reduction of associated artificial lighting. Its use can provide significant reductions in energy usage. The technique is also known as constant light control. The Helvar sensors in conjunction with a Helvar lighting control system provide this functionality, and can control the output of artificial lighting depending on the contribution of light to the space by natural daylight. This ensures that the output level of the lamps is no higher than that required to maintain the desired light level. Further savings can be achieved when this technique is used in combination with motion sensor. This has the potential to further reduce the use of energy by ensuring that lighting will only operate when areas are occupied.
